KBOO LABOR RADIO and JWJ Update

KBOO Labor Radio is about working people & organizing…Here are some future KBOO Labor Radio shows:

Third Monday: July 16th Kevin Card, legislative liaison of the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), norm ally hosts this discussion, but Kevin is working on a project. (The Secretary of States national organization is meeting in Portland...and Kevin is scheduled to convince them of the efficacy of vote by mail.) Tim Flanagan (publicist for PCCFF) will be filling in and bringing you an exciting show which will include Rob Wagner(Director of Government Relations and Political and Legislative affairs for AFT-Oregon)who will join with us to discuss Oregon politics, labor unions, and our listeners' concerns... Larry Galizio (Oregon house district 35) who represents portions of Washington and Multnomah County, http://www.leg.state.or.us/galizio/ will provide his perspective on a variety of issues. Michael Morrow of PCC Child Care Services, America Reads, Sylvania Roots Program, &PCCFF Political Action VP will again join the show with his insights, and if we are fortunate, Diane Rosenbaum a Democrat and the Oregon State Representative for Oregon State House District 42 may also be be in the studio. We will begin with a discussion of Kevin's endeavors with expanding mail-in voting, and then move into the various legislative agendas relevant to working people: universal health care, universal education, more equitable corporate funding, progress in the last session, disappointments, prospects for hope in the next session, and current developments on the Oregon political horizon. Fourth Monday, July 23rd April 23rd Union Issues and Concerns Monday 6-7pm 90.7fm Maribeth Healey and Lane Poncy will host Kens Allen, executive director of AFSCME Council 75 normally hosts with Maribeth Healey, executive director of Oregonians for Health Security Barbara L Roberts (not the ex-Governor, but an instructor at PCC!) will be a guest, and will continue the conversation as a guest on Fifth Monday!
Fifth Monday Labor Radio: July 30th We will discuss the Conference on Contingent Academic Labor, COCAL-Oregon, and focus on how teaching, research, service, equity, and issues of Academic freedom & Civic-engagement can inform professional educators and provide avenues for change. Guests include Barbara L. Roberts, Part-time Instructor at the Student Learning Center at PCC, David Rives, part-time instructor at the Workforce Training Center and Grievance/Contract Administrator for PCCFF , and Full-Time Instructor at PCC and PCCFF President Michael Dembrow. We will talk about the issues part-timers face, the Re: Tri-National Conference on Contingent Academic Labour and Oregon-COCAL Oregon Coalition of Contingent Academic Labor: an umbrella group of part-time teacher activists working to improve working conditions, achieve equity in pay and benefits, and better serve students throughout the state.
